Counselling Process

After a new client has contacted me, I offer a 45-minute conplimentary video or phone consultation to make sure that we are a good therapeutic fit before I book an initial counselling session.

During the initial counselling session, you and I will discuss what has brought you to counselling and what you wish me to know about you.We can explore your strengths, interests, life stories, and anything that you feel safe to share. I might conduct some psychological assessments during this session to evaluate your general functioning and mental health.

During the second session, we discuss what goals that you would like to achieve in counselling. It is important for us to set up some specific goals so we can have a direction in our counselling.

During subsequent sessions, we will continue discussing your challenges or things that have brought you to counselling. We will revise your counselling goals as you make some progress.

Termination: the goal of the counselling is not to get rid of any problems you might struggle with. The goal is to allow you to gain new perspective and help you develop skills that you can apply to your life. My role as a counsellor is to assist my clients in achieving aspirations by emphasizing possibilities and potential challenges as well as helping them cultivate awareness of who they want to become. If you feel that your goals have been met, you can initiate the termination anytime. We will then work together to formulate a termination plan that works best for you,

Session Frequency

How often you want to see me depends on your personal goals, your current circumstance, and your financial situation. We can discuss it during the initial session and determine a counselling treatment plan that fits into your life circumstance and individual needs. If you feel that all your goals are met and still would like to get counselling support, we can meet once per month or once per two months for example, depending on your preference.

Online Counselling

Online counselling session will last the same amount of time as a regular in-office session. I use secure softwares that ensure your confidentiality. Research studies have demonstrated that online counselling is an effective method in treating a variety of mental health challenges. Online counselling can also provide you with flexibility as you can connect with me anywhere in the city. However, it is important that you are aware that online sessions have limitations as compared to in-person sessions, among those being the lack of physical face-to-face interactions.
